Cult of the Lamb: Doctrines & Resource Management

Your cult is only as strong as its foundation. This guide covers doctrines, resources, and follower management.

Doctrine Selection

Doctrines are permanent buffs for your cult. You can only have 5 active at a time.

Essential Doctrines (Always Take)

  • Followers Devotion: Followers generate devotion passively. This is your main income.
  • Harvest Festival: Followers farm 50% faster. Essential for food production.
  • Sacred Wood: Followers chop wood 50% faster. Wood is needed for everything.
  • Divine Inspiration: Followers mine stone 50% faster. Stone is needed for buildings.

Strong Doctrines (High Priority)

  • Sermon of the Chosen: Sermons give 2x devotion. Massive income boost.
  • Followers Loyalty: Followers are less likely to rebel. Critical for large cults.
  • Sacred Ground: Buildings generate 25% more resources. Stacks with other doctrines.
  • Divine Providence: Followers work 25% faster. Stacks with resource doctrines.

Situational Doctrines

  • Sermon of Punishment: Punish disobedient followers. Only if you have rebellion problems.
  • Sermon of Healing: Heal all followers. Useful for boss fights.
  • Sermon of War: Followers fight alongside you. Good for combat-heavy runs.

Resource Management

Resources Overview

  • Devotion: Main currency. Buy buildings, upgrades, and doctrines.
  • Food: Keeps followers alive. Followers eat 1 food per day.
  • Wood: Building material. Needed for most structures.
  • Stone: Advanced building material. Needed for temples and upgrades.
  • Gold: Rare currency. Buy special items from merchants.

Resource Priorities

  1. Food production first: If followers starve, they rebel and leave.
  2. Wood second: You need wood for farms and houses.
  3. Stone third: Stone is needed for temples (devotion generators).
  4. Gold last: Gold is rare and only needed for special items.

Base Layout

Optimal base layout for maximum efficiency:

  • Center: Temple (generates devotion)
  • North: Farms (food production)
  • East: Lumber mills (wood production)
  • West: Quarries (stone production)
  • South: Houses (follower housing)

Tip: Place resource buildings near their resource nodes. Farms near grass, lumber mills near trees, quarries near rocks.

Follower Management

Follower Types

  • Workers: Gather resources. Assign to farms, lumber mills, or quarries.
  • Preachers: Generate devotion. Assign to temples.
  • Fighters: Follow you into combat. Only a few can be assigned.

Follower Traits

Each follower has a random trait:

  • Positive: Devout (2x devotion), Hardworking (25% faster), Loyal (wont rebel)
  • Negative: Lazy (50% slower), Rebellious (may rebel), Gluttonous (eats 2x food)

Management: Assign followers based on their traits. Devout followers go to temples. Hardworking followers go to resource buildings. Rebellious followers should be punished or sacrificed.

Sermon Mechanics

Sermons are weekly events that generate devotion:

  • Sermon of the Chosen: Best for income. Gives 2x devotion.
  • Sermon of Punishment: Reduces rebellion. Use if followers are disobedient.
  • Sermon of Healing: Heals all followers. Use before boss fights.
  • Sermon of War: Followers fight with you. Use for combat-heavy crusades.

Tip: Always choose Sermon of the Chosen for maximum income.

Advanced Tips

  • Sacrifice followers who have negative traits. It generates devotion and removes a problem.
  • Build multiple temples to maximize devotion generation.
  • Upgrade farms to increase food production. Starving followers are useless.
  • Assign fighters before crusades. They make combat much easier.
