Risk of Rain 2 has over 12 playable characters. This guide covers how to unlock every character.

Starting Characters (Available Immediately)

• Commando: Balanced starter. Primary: Gauss Rifle. Secondary: Grenade.
• Enforcer: High damage, low mobility. Primary: Shotgun. Secondary: Stun Grenade.
• Huntress: High mobility, ranged. Primary: Arrow Rain. Secondary: Blink.
• Engineer: Turret-based. Primary: Bubble Shield. Secondary: Mine.
• Artificer: Magic-based. Primary: Ice Bomb. Secondary: Flame Burst.
• Mercenary: Melee-focused. Primary: Sword Slash. Secondary: Eviscerate.

Unlockable Characters

Loader

Unlock: Complete 20 stages. Playstyle: Melee with hook mobility. Difficulty: Medium.

Rex

Unlock: Find and complete the hidden Obelisk challenge in Abyssal Depths. Playstyle: Plant-based, AoE damage. Difficulty: Hard. Squishy but high damage.

MUL-T

Unlock: Find and complete the hidden Obelisk challenge in Abyssal Depths. Playstyle: Transform between 4 modes. Difficulty: Medium. Versatile but complex.

Acrid

Unlock: Kill 15 enemies with poison effects. Playstyle: Poison DoT. Difficulty: Easy. Poison does the work.

Captain

Unlock: Complete 30 stages in a single run. Playstyle: Orbital skills. Difficulty: Medium. Requires good timing.

Bandit

Unlock: Kill 15 enemies in 1 second. Playstyle: High burst damage. Difficulty: Hard. Glass cannon.

Hidden Characters

Heretic

Unlock: Find the hidden portal in Sirens Call and defeat the Heretic boss. Playstyle: Corrupted survivor. High damage but takes damage over time. Difficulty: Very Hard.

Seeker

Unlock: Complete the hidden questline across 3 separate runs. Playstyle: Exploration-based. Difficulty: Hard. Requires map knowledge.

Drizzle (Easy)

Start with Commando or Huntress.

Rainstorm (Medium)

Start with Mercenary or Loader.
