Rogue Legacy 2: Talent Tree & Heir Management

Progression is built around three pillars: the Talent Tree, Class Selection, and the Traits System.

Talent Tree Priorities

  1. Health (first): +25 HP per level. Survivability is everything.
  2. Strength (second): +5 damage per level. Direct damage increase.
  3. Magic (third): +5 magic damage per level. Essential for mage classes.
  4. Armor (fourth): +2 defense per level. Reduces all incoming damage.
  5. Crit Chance (last): +2% per level. Only invest after the above are maxed.

Never spend gold on the Vault early — it only stores gold between runs, and you need that gold for talents.

Class Selection Guide

  • Knight: Balanced stats, shield bash. Best all-around for beginners.
  • Barbarian: High HP, melee focus. Great for tanking bosses.
  • Assassin: High crit, fast attacks. Glass cannon — requires skill.
  • Mage: High magic damage, ranged spells. Best for clearing rooms quickly.
  • Necromancer: Summons skeletons. Unique playstyle, strong in late game.
  • Dragon: Unlocked late game. Breath attack, flight. Overpowered.

Beginner recommendation: Start with Knight, unlock Barbarian second, then branch into magic classes.

The Traits System

Every heir has a random trait:

  • Positive traits: Balanced (no change), Hyperactive (faster but less HP)
  • Negative traits: Colorblind (hard to see traps), Vertigo (inverted controls), Dextrocardia (HP on right side)

Heir management: If you get an heir with a terrible trait, lock them in the jail (costs 500 gold). Only jail heirs with truly unplayable traits like Vertigo or Dextrocardia.

Blueprint System

Blueprints are permanent upgrades found in chests. Prioritize weapon blueprints for your main class first.

Gold Spending Priorities

  1. Talent tree (always)
  2. Blueprints (if available)
  3. Equipment (only if youre stuck)
  4. Jail (only for unplayable traits)
  5. Vault (never — spend the gold instead)
